SCPOS AI Scale Gets Smarter: Zero Training Required, Ready to Use Out of the Box

Since its launch in China in 2020, the SCPOS AI Scale has been localized into multiple languages and successfully rolled out to markets worldwide.

In retail weighing scenarios — stores selling dried goods, meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and other weighed products — the traditional workflow requires placing the item on the scale, then manually entering a product code or searching for the item on a touchscreen before the weight and price can be calculated. This process is slow, error-prone, and repetitive for staff.

In 2020, SCPOS pioneered an integrated solution combining camera-based visual recognition with weighing: simply place the item on the scale, and the AI identifies the product and calculates the price within 0.1 seconds — dramatically improving checkout efficiency.

Now, teaching the AI to recognize products is easier than ever. No back-end pre-training is required — the scale works right out of the box. The first time an item is weighed, the operator simply assigns it a product name in the software, and the AI remembers it. The next time the same item is placed on the scale, the AI recognizes it instantly. And the more the scale is used, the faster and more accurate its recognition becomes.
